Creating the Shrub Border

The South-facing shrub border was laid out in 2017. A team of us dug over the border several times to remove deep-rooted perennial weeds and coarse grasses. Some of the more unusual shrubs were purchased from a specialist nursery but many of the plants were donated as surplus from local gardens. All have grown enthusiastically in the shelter of the south-facing wall, providing an impressive display, and the border now needs regular weeding and pruning. Cuttings will be taken to provide a stock of interesting shrubs for sale.
